(EN) I understand sound as a material that allows me to expand my artistic practice beyond visual and spatial boundaries. For me, it functions not merely as an accompanying element, but as an independent medium through which perception, embodiment, and space can be newly experienced. In doing so, I follow an eclectic working method, combining elements from different artistic traditions and developing them experimentally.

“Sounds for a wounded Landscape”

Two sound artists play and listen into the large hole of the Garzweiler open-cast mine as a self-experiment. The camera observes the conflict at the hole, looks and listens into it. All attempts to alleviate or stop the wounding of the landscape seem fragile, helpless and perhaps even futile.

“Sound Swing”

As part of the Cultural Night at City Church Mönchengladbach, loudspeakers were suspended from seven-meter-long ropes within the church space and set into motion through a performative act. Sound was released from its fixed position, moving through the space as a physical, swinging presence — an audible interplay of gravity, architecture, and time. The sonic material consisted of field recordings from the surrounding area, inscribing the outside world into the sacred interior.

Composition for 3 Recordplayer

Emerging from an engagement with the sounds of modern weaving machines in Hamminkeln, a site with a long tradition in the textile industry, a transmedial score has taken shape, reflecting the distinctive qualities of both place and time. In the soundscapes of the project Loom of a 3, the machines themselves assume the role of instrumentalists, lending the music their own pulsating voice.

Under the title Haunting Noise – Composition for Three Turntables, three dubplate releases were created, inviting an “automatic” concert. Visitors were encouraged to start the turntables themselves, becoming active participants in the musical experience.

Bling!

"Bling!" stands for shine, reflection, wealth – and at the same time, the vulgar. The sound installation at Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal Wiesbaden explores these facets. Together with the artist Nicola Schudy, the project began with research on Wiesbaden, a city that hosts one of Germany’s oldest and largest casinos. The urban impressions are reflected in the works on display, capturing the ambivalence between glamour and the everyday.

“Water Fontain Baruth”

A water glass, fountain, and hydrophone form an installative arrangement that addresses the growing issue of water scarcity in the Mark Brandenburg region. Everyday and technical elements enter into a sensitive dialogue around resource, perception, and control. At the opening, the installation was activated through a performative interplay between the fountain and electroacoustic sound, in which water became not only a carrier but an active agent of sound.

PostPost Punchcard Composition

A time-intensive punchcard composition, which was eventually assembled into a loop at the end of the exhibition. Powered by a motor and transformer, it played autonomously, offering a self-playing farewell to the temporarily inhabited space.

Sounds for a conducting River

For the Słupia River, I developed seven floating objects with integrated playback devices and loudspeakers that were controlled by the river’s current. In collaboration with local residents, we accompanied the composition through a 30-minute walk along the riverbank, culminating at the lock as its endpoint. Field recordings and interview voices addressing the pollution of rivers intertwined with the surrounding soundscape and unfolded in rhythm with the flow of the current.

Radioart

Together with the artist and radio journalist Christian Ahlborn, I developed several experimental audio works (Fatherland, FUNFUNFUN, 50 Signs and Symptoms of Feeling Alien), which were premiered at the radio festival Radiophrenia at CCA Glasgow. In other collaborations, additional audio pieces were created, including works for the RadioArtZone Festival as part of the Esch 2022 European Capital of Culture program.
